Hello PS 165 Families!
This year, we have decided to bring a book fair to the school this fall - in fact, it is less than two weeks away!
We will be having a Scholastic Book Fair from October 22nd to October 25th and all classes from Pre-K to 5th grade will be able to shop for books. The Book Fair gets kids excited to read by letting them choose books they love and sharing the experience with their peers and teachers. More information about the schedule and the books will be sent home soon.
OUR GOAL - Like our last fair, we want every child to go home with a book they love to read. We will be rounding up totals and accepting donations for "All for Books," the same system we used last year. All donations will go directly towards the purchase of books during this fair and will be used for individuals in need, class libraries, and the school library.
DIARY OF A WIMPY KID PRE-SALE!!! We will also be having a Pre-Sale of the newest, not yet released Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Students will be able to order a copy of the book for delivery to the school within a couple of days of the October 30th release date. It is an exclusive paperback edition and is cheaper than the typical hardback sold in stores - plus, all sales will benefit our school! Information to order will be sent home soon.
SUPER CONVENIENT E-WALLET! Make things easier for you and your child by using the E-Wallet option on our book fair website: http://www.scholastic.com/bf/ps165. Simply fill out the form and deposit whatever amount you want your child to have at the book fair. You will only be charged what your child spent (and of course it cannot exceed the amount you choose to deposit).
You can set up the E-Wallet now (or any time before your child visits) and not have to worry about remembering to send money the day your child's class goes to the book fair. (click for more information)
SHOP ONLINE! While we don't want to take the fun out of our children visiting the fair and choosing their own books, there is also an option to shop our fair online at: http://www.scholastic.com/bf/ps165. This gives relatives and friends the opportunity to buy books while supporting our school, as the PTA will also receive a percentage of those sales. Online shopping will start on October 15 and end on November 2. So spread the word!
Supporting the Book Fair is just another fun way to support a love for reading, greater literacy skills, and the school. The PTA will receive a percentage of the sales, which we will use to build the school/class libraries as well as fund other enrichment programs that the PTA supports throughout the year.

Este año, hemos decidido traer una feria de libros a la escuela este otoño ¡Tendremos la feria en menos de dos semanas!

Es una edición exclusiva de bolsillo y es más económica que el libro de tapa dura típico que se vende en las tiendas. Además, ¡todas las ventas beneficiarán a nuestra escuela!
