STEM Night

This afternoon is a hands-on learning experience for the students! Planned by our Student Leaders in the Lighthouse Program, this fun-filled event celebrates the wonders of science, technology, engineering, and math through interactive activities, engaging experiments, and collaborative challenges designed for students and families alike.

Special Performance by the Columbia University Lion Dance Team! Just a few weeks after Lunar New Year, we’re pleased to have the Lion Dance Team joining us for STEM night! The Lion Dance Team celebrates Chinese culture through the traditional art of lion dance.

After the performance, students will have a chance to learn from the Columbia team about the mechanics and engineering of the lion dance costumes.

All students are welcome! Children attending YANY or YMCA will attend with their afterschool program. Children not in YANY or YMCA, including those in Pre-K and younger siblings, are welcome and need to be accompanied by an adult.

Our March Scholastic Book Fair will be open during STEM night for shopping with your kids!

Join us at the event

We’re looking for enthusiastic parent volunteers to help make this event a success! From assisting with activity stations to welcoming families, there are many ways to get involved. No STEM experience? No problem! All you need is a willingness to support and inspire our young learners.
