Investing in Our Children’s Future
The P.S. 165 PTA turns our school into a close-knit community while funding essential enrichment, academic, and well-being programs that help every child thrive.
We believe in creating a place where:
Families are part of a community instead of anonymous
Kids become friends, not just classmates
Teachers and students have what they need to thrive
Our School Relies on Our Support
What sets P.S. 165 apart are the incredible opportunities provided to every single student—programs that go far beyond standard DOE funding and are supported by grants and the PTA.
These aren't extras; they are core to who we are.
Historically, the extraordinary programs that set P.S. 165 apart were funded by $230,000 in Federal Title I grants alongside PTA contributions. Title I federal funding for our school has dropped to 0%.
Our PTA is ready. We will ensure our school’s upward trajectory continues uninterrupted by funding what we love about our school.
Every Dollar Stays Right Here for Our Kids
Our Annual Family Giving Campaign is the true powerhouse behind what we do. It’s the single largest source of funding for the programs and experiences that directly enrich our students' days at P.S. 165.
We ask every family in our community to chip in at whatever feels right for them. When every family gives, our kids gain a lot.
Our neighborhood school has unique and special programs that bring in diverse students from across District 3, including Dual Language Spanish, Gifted and Talented, Leader in Me Leadership opportunities, hands-on STEM supplies, and much more. Your support ensures we can keep providing these rich experiences for all our kids.
The PTA Supports:
-
Maintaining our Leader in Me Lighthouse program to build leadership and emotional resilience in every student.
Supporting the International Baccalaureate (IB) accreditation process.
Dedicated math consultants, STEM/Robotics kits, and computer practice testing software.
-
Sustaining our onsite Mental Health Clinic for essential emotional support.
Funding Special Education interventions and customized guidance so every student thrives.
-
Artist-in-residencies, ceramics studio/kiln supplies, and supplies for our premiere specials.
Cool Culture Program passes giving families access to premier NYC cultural institutions.
-
Dedicated Soccer Stars recess coaching for structured play, sportsmanship, and physical health and allow our teachers the chance to plan and reset for afternoon lessons.
Cherished traditions: holiday concerts, Field Day, Graduations, and Leadership Milestones, and all-school assemblies celebrating our diverse cultures and traditions.
Double Your Impact with Employer Matching
If you work for a company with a matching program, your employer could double your donation to the P.S. 165 PTA. Employer matching gifts are a crucial part of how our parent community supports our school. Check your employer’s portal searching for "charitable matching" on your company's intranet or ask your HR department. Many companies use platforms like Benevity, CyberGrants, or YourCause.

Meeting Schedule
Parents are invited to join our monthly PTA meetings. These meetings provide an excellent opportunity for parents to engage with school staff, discuss important issues, and collaborate on initiatives that benefit our students.
Meetings are hybrid: there are held in-person and on Zoom. The meeting link is emailed to registered parents by the School Administration the day before each meeting.
After the PTA meeting, the School Administration hosts their monthly Town Hall to update parents on important dates and topics.
