P.S. 165 PTA Board Election Info

The P.S. 165 Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is the official organization of the parent body in our school. Every New York City public school is required to have one, and all parents of children in the school are automatically members. Because of their guaranteed rights and responsibilities, PTAs can be the most direct vehicle for parent involvement in the schools, allowing parents to serve as partners both in their children’s educations and in the schools themselves. Through the P.S. 165 PTA, you can:

  • Get Connected: There’s no better way to know what’s happening in our school.

  • Discover Great Resources: The PTA offers information and access to programs designed for parents and students.

  • Connect with Parents: PTA functions are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers and discuss issues that are on your mind. You can share ideas, concerns, and experiences.

  • Have your Voice Heard: PTA is a great way for you to more effectively suggest and bring change to our children’s school.

  • Make a Difference: PTAs play an important role supporting school improvements through advocacy and fundraising.

We welcome you to participate in our PTA!

PTA Elections: What's the Process?

When it's time to elect new PTA board members, we'll create a ballot with the names of candidates who have been nominated. Here's how it works:

- Candidate Names: We'll list candidates' names in alphabetical order by last name under the specific office they're running for.

- Co-Officer Slates: Names for co-officer positions will be paired with co-candidate's name on the ballot.

This ensures that our elections are fair, transparent, and easy to understand. If you have any questions or are interested in running for a board position, please reach out to us!

Once our new board is elected, we will schedule two brief touch-base meetings over the summer to ensure a seamless transition and ongoing support for our initiatives. We will share a Doodle poll to schedule these, ensuring everyone can attend. Your dedication and contributions will play a vital role in supporting our students and enhancing our school community.
